Shalwar kameez also known as salwar kameez and less common shalwar kameez) is a combination of traditional clothing worn by women, and in certain areas of South Asia, men wear, and Central Asia. For example, salwar kameez is still one of the most common styles of clothing for Indian women. Salwar Kamiz is a popular and comfortable dress worn by Punjab women, traditionally this dress is worn in Punjab.

This is a traditional dress worn mainly by women, but in some areas, men also wear it. Salwar kamiz or Punjabi costumes (herein referred to as "dresses") are traditionally worn by women from northern India and Pakistan and their migrating sisters. In places like Pakistan and India, salwar kameez is a dress worn by men and women every day in the country. This style of clothing connects the Indian subcontinent with the women's partuga (dresses and salwars) in northwestern Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as the traditional women's clothing in parts of Central Asia.

The Salwar Kameez as we know it today has many origins and traditions, shaping them into the ideal style and type we know today. The modern Punjabi word shalwar kameez is a patiala salwar with many folds and originated in the city of Patiala. Salwar kameez comes from many traditions and is used in many cultures in many forms and styles because they are easy to make and respected. This dress consists of two parts: salwar is a loose-fitting pants, and kameez is a long (sometimes short) shirt worn by both men and women.

After women entered the wage labor market, Indian women who once wore saris adopted salwar kameez. This may be because the connotation of masculinity played a role. The traditional shalwar kameez worn in the Punjab region is different from the style worn by Baluchistan and Afghanistan. It is called a "Punjabi dress"with side slits(this is a local Development, because the early form of kamez did not have transverse slits). It consists of a knee-length kameuse, a wide salwar (much larger than a normal salwar), and a long chuni. Although this dress may have a long history, dating back to when Europe was still immersed in medieval barbarism, the dress continued to evolve as other elements influenced the style in the culture that is still worn today.

It is also widely worn by men in Afghanistan as well as women and some men in the Punjab region of India, and from there it has been adopted by women across India [27] and generally in South Asia. An older type of shalwar kamiz from the Punjab region is the Punjab Sultan and the kurta seed. The daughters of these keen and aspiring overseas women are fashion pioneers. They have established commercial clothing markets in cities around the world and introduced Salwar kameez into mainstream fashion. For example, women in the region, regardless of caste, class, and religion, all wear the same "patiala dress" (from the Prince Patiala state of Punjab, where there is an ancient and highly developed handicraft tradition). For many years.

The dress is worn by women of different nationalities and races in many parts of the world. For example, a typical cameez has sleeves with a set-in similar to European shirts and tunics. Women wore salwar and patiala with modestly draped kurtas and dupattas, as seen in old photographs and in The Archivist by photographer Noni Singh. Of course, they spiced up the dress with jewels and their rare jewels that made their clothes so special.
